Wild Man Beer Stein, with Barley and Hops motifs, from Albert Stahl & Co. Very handsome harvest-themed piece, coming from the same donor as last month's Schutzenfest pitcher/cups. I am uncertain of the stein's age, but the "BS anchor" maker's mark suggests either 1937-39, or 1990, when Albert Stahl & Co resumed production after a 51-year hiatus. In 1939 the factory in Rudolstadt, Germany, was commandeered for technical porcelain for the war effort, and was not re-privatized until 1990. Soon after, the company changed the maker's mark to the crown and shield that is still being used today.
