Small Hand-Carved Mask, probably of Luba origin (in the Congo). Such masks are sacred objects used in ceremonies, rituals, and initiations to connect the human world with spirits, ancestors, and nature. This one is quite small, likely made for the market. Measures 6-1/2" wide by 7-1/2" high, has a cord on the back to hang it on the wall. Painted black, red and white, and decorated with white dots.
